Added in 3.4.0

The integrated AI Scan Analysis function helps you analyze and interpret your 3D Ground Scans. To achieve the best results, perform two additional control scans as recommended in the 3D Ground Scan Guide and the Scan Analysis Guide.

Ask yourself the following questions to ensure that the scans were conducted properly:

1. Open and Arrange Measurements

Before sending any data to the AI Scan Analysis Agent, open all relevant measurements in Visualizer 3D Studio and decide which scan image will be your initial or primary scan. Make this scan the active one (see Figure 1). Also, ensure that you have entered all the necessary information, such as field length, width, and soil type, correctly into the measurements. Please note that intensive use of modifiers (filters) can negatively impact the AI analysis results.

Only the active measurement will undergo primary analysis, and any resulting recommendations or bookmarks will be stored in this file. All other open files can be added later as control scans for the AI Scan Analysis, which is only possible for files that have already been opened in Visualizer 3D Studio.

2. Collect Scan Data and Prepare the Analysis

After clicking the AI Scan Analysis button AI Scan Analysis in the Main Toolbar or Main Menu ( Extras > AI Scan Analysis ), the dialog from Figure 2 will appear.

In the dialog box in Figure 2, you can see additional information about the active initial scan.

This icon indicates that the length of your scan area is too short. It should be at least 5 m (16 ft).
This icon indicates that the width of your scan area is too short. It should be at least 5 m (16 ft).
This icon indicates that the distance between your impulses per scan line is too large. It should be not more than 25 cm (0.85 ft).
This icon indicates that the distance between your scan lines is too large. It should be not more than 50 cm (1.65 ft).
This icon indicates potential data inconsistencies. These issues are usually the result of faulty data transfer (e.g., selecting the wrong number of impulses).
Green icons indicate valid data. To ensure the most accurate results and recommendations, only send scan images with complete and valid data.

3. Add Control Scans

It is recommended to add two additional control scans to your initial scan. Thus the AI is capable to compare your scans for a better evaluation.

Click on "+" to open a list of available control scans (see Figure 3). This list only shows scans that have already been opened in Visualizer 3D (see Section 1: "1. Open and Arrange Measurements") and are the same type as your active initial scan. For example, if your active initial scan is a "3D Ground Scan," you can only select other "3D Ground Scans" as control scans.

Select an available control scan by clicking on its entry. You can add up to two control scans to the AI Scan Analysis (see Figure 4).

4. Validation and Precheck

To prepare the data for the AI Scan Analysis, click the Start precheck button. This will validate the measurement, the control scans, and its metadata to ensure they are sufficient for analysis. In the summary, you can confirm whether you want to submit the data and start the analysis (see Figure 5).

In addition to the icons from Section 2, "Collect Scan Data and Prepare the Analysis", there is one more quality indicator related to control scans.

This icon indicates that no control scan has been added. Please add two more!
This icon indicates that only one control scan has been added. Add one more control scan.
This icon indicates that two control scans have been added. Very good!

You'll get the best analysis results when all the indicators are green. Only then will there be enough data to perform a high-quality analysis. However, it is important to ensure that all measurements have been performed correctly. Refer to the information in your detector manual and our 3D Ground Scan Guide for guidance.

Remember, AI is not a magic bullet that can fix poor measurement data.

5. Sending Data to the AI Agent for a Response

Once your scan data is ready for the AI Agent, click the Start analysis button. The data will then be sent to the AI Agent, and the program will wait for a response. Depending on the amount of scan data, this process may take some time (see Figure 6).

Please wait for the response from the AI Agent. You will then receive the results. The response will include the following information (see also Figure 7):

To save the result, recommendation, and bookmarks of this AI Scan Analysis, click OK. Otherwise, you will lose all this information. If the "Generate PDF Report" checkbox is checked, you can create the PDF document directly in the next step (see Export as PDF Report).
